Coloradoan: Colorado State University, Fort Collins to accelerate city purchase of Hughes Stadium land
Thank you again, Everyone! You can be sure that PATHS will be there working with our City and community to ensure that Hughes is protected for future generations and for our increasingly displaced and impacted wildlife. Our work is not complete just yet!
Much gratitude to the City of Fort Collins, CSU, and especially PATHS volunteers, organizers, supporters, and Fort Collins voters for making the protection of Hughes a reality. 🥰

"--The city of Fort Collins and Colorado State University system are forging ahead with their plan for the city to buy the former Hughes Stadium property for $12.5 million.
The next steps in the voter-initiated sale may be slightly different from what was announced in the August memorandum of understanding between CSU and the city. The MOU had anticipated the land sale would take place after CSU finishes working with Cottonwood Land and Farms to secure an east Fort Collins property for affordable housing.
The city and CSU instead are planning to move forward with an accelerated land sale while CSU continues to work with Cottonwood on the planned affordable housing site. Fort Collins City Council will discuss next steps in more detail at a Nov. 23 work session, according to a city news release. They'll need to determine financing for the 165-acre purchase and lay out the public engagement process that will determine how the land is used — within the parameters of the voter-approved Public Open Lands zoning.--"
